Helium is a larger problem than just airship supply. This problem will impact the space industry, medical technologies, precision testing, superconductors, fiber optics, LCD screens, and so much more. Plus, they aren’t closing the reserves, they are (unfortunately) selling them off to be controlled by the private market.
Well, and with Lithium, there was a potentially the world’s largest reserve recently discovered in Afghanistan.

There was a FAR better infographic on this stuff in GOOD magazine. Couldn’t find it but I’ll link/repost when I do. The author of this dropped the ball on discussing a very real issue. I always chuckle when I hear a ‘peak’ scenario deniers. Especially when I think they teach the tragedy of the commons in high school economics now.
